The most buzzed topics on internet in 2015!!

Yes, we are here – At the verge of 2015 and waiting eagerly to welcome 2016. Before we jump to that, let us revisit those moments which got more attention than needed on the very active social networking websites. Here, we listed some of those, which now went down the lane

1. The ‘Miss Universe’ Controversy
No doubt that Steve Harvey was dogged by misfortune on the final day of Miss Universe 2015 pageant. May it be a publicity stunt or an involuntary human error by Steve, neither the media nor the fans did take it with a pinch of salt.
Both the contestants, Miss Columbia and Miss Philippines were very joyous when they knew they made it to the top 2 of the Miss Universe 2015 contest but that happy bubble did not last long for either of them.

As soon as Steve Harvey announced Miss Columbia as the winner of Miss Universe 2015, there came applauds from all over the hall and she was enthroned with the very desirable Miss Universe crown within a fraction of minutes. Only when Steve Harvey himself came down to the center stage and announced his mistake, nobody knew what has happened. Steve apologized for his blunder and even showed the card which had the results, thus declaring Miss Philippines as Miss Universe 2015.

The most dreadful moment was when the former Miss Universe Paulina Vega, had to dethrone Ariadna Gutierrez and present it to Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

After this very issue there started too many memes on Steve Harvey and even Steve Harvey continued to enjoy those memes which he showed through his twitter post wishing Merry Easter on Dec 25th

2. Aamir Khan’s intolerance
Just because Aamir Khan’s interview had the word intolerance in it, he was encircled in this intolerance controversy. Responses to this issue revealed the intolerance of a particular group of disturbed people who wanted to make fuss out of everything rather than Aamir’s.

3. Maggi’s ban and unban
For most of the students and youngsters who stayed in hostels or solely dependent on Maggi to suffice their hunger had a serious heartbreak when Maggi was banned in India. It is very surprising how the led content in Maggi suddenly vanished within a few months and how the government had lift the ban on Maggi. Whatsoever may the reason, all those maggi lovers are finally at peace munching their 2-min maggi

Welcome back Maggi sir!!

4. Sheena Bora’s case
A very brutal incident that happened in 2012 had finally came into light in 2015 where Indrani Mukherji was convicted for the murder of her very own daughter Sheena Bora. This case had more than expected twists and turns that anyone could even witness in an entire Sherlock Holmes season. Apart from the disgusting facts that were revealed in the course of this case, more annoying part is how the media hyped the case and prolonged the telecast of this issue just to improve their TRP.

5. PM Narendra Modi’s foreign tours
Though PM Modi outnumbered his number of foreign tours this year compared to the last one, but we were never behind to poke our nose into this issue. Beginning from isolated and coveted islands to the very popular countries, he has covered almost every nook and corner of the world. One among his numerous trips is his visit to Facebook’s headquarters and his emotional answers in the interview hosted by Mark Zuckerberg. After this very meeting, Facebook has provided its users an option to apply a customized tricolor filter to their display pictures as supporting digital media in India.

Writing about Mark and Facebook reminds of the things that FB is up to lately.

6. What’s on Facebook’s mind in 2015?
Free Basics
Free Basics/internet.org is an application by Facebook to provide basic features from a few selected websites to allow information about news, health and access to social networking websites at a free of cost for a limited data. As this would eventually lead to internet monopoly and negative competition

Colorful Filters
It all started with the rainbow color filter (Hopefully, my memory didn’t obliviate) whose motive was to support the legalization of gay marriages in USA. But the funny thing is people in other countries too added this filter to their DPs without even knowing what they meant for. Then came Indian tricolor flag to support digital media and French tricolor filter as a tribute to the Paris terrorist attacks and many more kept coming. Most of the users just use the filters without having any vague idea about them let alone supporting them.
