When it comes to stealing the lime light the Indian cricketers are no less and the Indian eve’s did vindicate this statement by crushing New Zealand 3-2 in a five match series.
The New Zealander’s who won the toss opted to bat were left at the mercy of Indian bowlers. Julan Goswami was no exception and was at her best like every other day taking wickets at crucial times. The other picks in the Indian bowling were Gayakwad and Sharma. Bisht and Kaur chipped in with a wicket as well. This performance on the field showed the character of the Indians when it comes to crunch situations in a series deciding situation.
In chasing a not so mammoth target of 119 which demanded less than 3 runs per over, Kamini and Mandhana opened the innings and were off to a flying start. Kamini’s confidence, an aggression was no less and her determination to get her team across the border was very exciting to watch.
Mandhana went to pavilion for 13, but Sharma who came in at #3 made the bowlers toil and made the target look easy.
On the whole, this victory will make more and more audience look closely into women’s cricket. Be it men or women, the cricket fans will enjoy every form of the game. Moreover, its India that is playing.
And BCCI is not going to be on the get-blamed end now. They were generous enough to announce Rs. 21 lakh reward for the Indian women’s team for this promising home series win against New Zealand!!
With a warm heart, the 1.25 billion Indians wish you good luck!!
Chak De India 😀
