Infatuation, Love or just an Episode

“Yes, I was infatuated with you: I am still. No one has ever heightened such a keen capacity of physical sensation in me. I cut you out because I couldn’t stand being a passing fancy. Before I give my body, I must give my thoughts, my mind, my dreams. And you weren’t having any of those.      – Sylvia Plath

At this age I have been in love so have you… but was that love or just an infatuation. Addiction is the hallmark of infatuation.

So here is the common scenario of how that happens, “girl meets the eye of the guy and wants to linger, then they get introduced, and there start the sleepless nights, daydreaming, vanishing in phone calls and texts all day, skipping food etc, etc. (And a lot more weird stuff)”

Now the consequences of this stupidity if it is “infatuation”:

1. You are controlled by him and his actions, but not by your heart.
2. You don’t acknowledge him for his bad behaviour.
3. You start looking down on yourself if he says so.

This infatuation makes you risk many things unreasonably. So how to judge if what you feel is love or infatuation, well in the starting days that’s next to impossible to evaluate… but even then you could try asking yourself these 3 questions and they might enlighten you with some self-realisation:

Do you trust him with your every single feeling?

Give it a good thought and then decide, because should you be afraid of sharing any tiny details of life with him or if you are keeping simple things that you do with friends, then it means you don’t trust him fully and it may not be love dear.

While enjoying your life at one moment do you suddenly think “if only he had been here for this”?Because if you do then you are doomed girl as that is “love”

Does he always get you?

No matter what, he understands your every stupid urge, all kind of quirks and the most important one he tolerates your farts. If this is the standard of your love then it is definitely love not infatuation.

Does he make you lose your temper sometimes but you love him nevertheless?

Even after repetitive episodes of fights, you still want to put up with more, then it may actually get a happily ever after.

The bottom line infatuation is delusional and very often has hurtful endings because of its one sided love and love should not hurt.
