19 runs required of the last over, 6 wickets gone, a young new batsman on strike and it is the final of World T20. 8 out of 10 would say that it is impossible to score 19 from the last 6 but when it’s West Indies who is playing there is always some room of magic.
Ben stokes was given the responsibility to bowl the last over and grab the trophy for England. Carlos Brathwaite just had 2 things in mind: either finish in style or take a single and let Marlon Samuels do the hard work. The next 4 deliveries are probably those that England will never forget. 4 sixes of 4 balls and the young Brathwaite won the trophy for West Indies. It was England who had the upper hand in the second innings but only till the last over. Have to give credit to England as they fought till the end; but history always remembers the first and this was the day for Windies. Marlon Samuels was the man of the match for his outstanding 85 of just 66 balls featuring 9 4’s and 2 6’s.
2016 has been a sensational year for them as earlier in February, West Indies won the U19 World cup and today the women’s and the men’s side grabbed the T20 World cup.
